PURPOSE
The purpose of the toolkit is to be a resource and practical guide for teaching cultural competence and humility as it applies to the optometric curriculum. The health disparities discussed within the toolkit are primarily related to race, racism, and select other factors.

After reading this toolkit, faculty members will be able to:

▪ Identify elements of inclusive clinical practice to model for students.
▪ Recognize new and evolving terminology in healthcare and inclusive language.
▪ Identify inclusive strategies in the workplace to encompass recruitment, onboarding,
compensation, and interviewing.
